Bläserkreis der Braunschweiger Landeskirche: |In ihm klingt mein
Musik aus sechs Jahrhunderten
Künstler: Ulfert Smidt
Komponisten: Johann Sebastian Bach

Sonatas, chorale settings, gospels—many things are clothed in sound here: matters of life, faith, god and mankind. The Bläserkreis der Braunschweiger Landeskirche brings together liturgical music of diverse kinds from six centuries, and bases the recording’s musical concept on the liturgical ceremonies of a Protestant service. The first titles on the CD include compositions and well-known songs of praise by great masters such as Johann Christoph Pepusch, Johann Jeep, or Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger. Contemporary works and arrangements complement these traditional pieces. The disc’s second half is characterised by international contemporary music: with his arrangement of the spirituals Get on board and When Israel was in Egypt’s land, Ingo Luis faces the musicians of the brass ensemble with unexpected challenges. Cantata Domino presents a choral piece by the Latvian musician Vytautas Miskinis, one of the most renowned Baltic composers of today. Hallelujah won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1979, and is recorded here in an arrangement by Dieter Wendel. Though colourfully diverse, the Bläserkreis der Braunschweiger Landeskirche nevertheless sticks to its own concept and on the present disc gives a taste of its extensive repertoire and the wide range of music available for brass ensemble (Posaunenchor).
