Johann Sebastian Bach: |the Eighteen Leipzig Chorales

Johann Sebastian Bach: |the Eighteen Leipzig Chorales
Ullrich Böhme, Organist at St Thomas
Künstler: Jörg Strodthoff, Kammerchor Apollini et Musis, Vinzenz Weissenburger
Komponisten: M. Camargo guarnieri

Two Bach organs on one disc: Ullrich Boehme, organist at St Thomas Leipzig, performs the Achtzehn Leipziger Choräle BWV 651-668 (Eighteen Leipzig Chorales BWV 651-668) at the Great Bach organ at St Thomas (Gerald Woehl /2000). Störmthal is home to one Saxony’s greatest organ treasures: the historic Hildebrandt organ (1723) that Bach himself “acknowledged and praised as in sound working order”. This is the debut recording for the small instrument: Boehme precedes the large-scale arrangements with their underlying chorales in settings by Johann Sebastian Bach.
