Becoming and fading, life and death – we face these principles every day in several aspects as well as in our entire existence, which is reflected in the continuous cycle of the seasons. The new recording by Tristan Meister and the Ensemble Vocapella Limburg features works from romanticism, the heyday of men’s choirs, and the following periods up until today. The award-winning choir, founded in 2007, presents pieces by Friedrich Silcher, Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss alongside commissioned and dedicated compositions by Vytautas Miskinis, Nikodemus Gollnau, Alwin Michael Schronen and Maarten Van Ingelgem. The singers are joined by the musicians of the Ensemble Impronta, who add another facet to the tonal palette of this colourful recording. This recording, which was sponsored by Rondeau Production in recognition of the ensemble’s outstanding performance at the 9th German Choir Competition in 2014, presents an excellent cross-section of the largely unknown repertoire for men’s choirs.
