Carmen Fuggiss

Carmen Fuggiss was born in Freiburg. She studied singing with Armand MacLane-Lanier at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt as well as with Hanna Ludwig in Salzburg. She received awards from the Federal Singing Contest Berlin and from the Würzburg Mozart festival Contest. In 1992 she won the Bavarian Staatsförder award in Munich. Her musical career took her to Würzburg and Mannheim, and later onto the national opera house of Lower Saxony Hanover in 1993. There she distinguished herself with Mozart and Strauss parts as a lyrical coloratura soprano but also in the Italian Belcanto-field à la Verdi, Donizetti and Bellini. Her international engagements have taken her to Berlin, Dresden and Charlotte (USA) as well as to the festivals in Salzburg, Edinburgh, Vienna and Rome. Carmen Fuggiss has performed with many well known conductors including Georg Solti, Fabio Luisi, Kent Nagano, Semyon Bychkov and Ingo Metzmacher. Her discography includes numerous recordings for radio and television networks which document her wide repertoire extending from the Middle Ages era to the contemporary composers (Also Jazz and Chanson).
