Elbeblech

The brass quintet Elbeblech was founded in 2004 by five young musicians in Hamburg. From the very beginning, the five musicians wanted to present chamber music on a high level and with great spirit. After some concerts which the ensemble had organised itself, in 2005, it was invited to the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for the first time. The ensemble gave further guest performances at renowned festivals such as Musica Viva (Osnabrück), the Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte and the Fredener Musiktage. In 2008, the ensemble published its CD “Anhörn!” with the classic label Genuin; this recording achieved great acclaim. Amongst the titles recorded, not only the common brass quintet repertoire is to be found; here, as well as in its concerts, the ensemble focuses its attention on its own arrangements, on works composed especially for brass quintet by composers of the 20th century (Witold Lutos?awski, Leonard Bernstein, Jan Koetsier) and on compositions commissioned for Elbeblech itself. All of these new arrangements and commissioned works have been published in the Elbeblech-Quintett-Edition by the Blechpresse Musikverlag.
