Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss

Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss
In 1978 the cellist and conductor Johannes Goritzki founded the Deutsche Kammerakademie (German Chamber Academy). The orchestra has performed numerous world and local premieres; in some cases – such as that of Isang Yun – the new works were dedicated to the orchestra. Since 1983 the German Chamber Academy has been sponsored by the town of Neuss am Rhein.
Artists such as Frank-Peter Zimmermann, Bruno Giuranna, Aurele Nicolet and Yehudi Menuhin are partners of the orchestra. In 1992 a cooperation agreement was reached with the soloists of the Stuttgart Wind Academy – among them artists such as Radovan Viatkovic (horn), UIf Rodenhäuser (clarinet), Ingo Goritzki (oboe) and Sergio Azzolini (bassoon). Tours have taken the orchestra all over the world, to Rome, Paris, and Buenos Aires, as well as Southeast Asia, China and Japan.
In Germany the ensemble has appeared in practically every major concert hall. Thanks to its uniquely lively style the orchestra met with a rapturous reception at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest and at the Berlin Festival Weeks. Yehudi Menuhin invited the ensemble to Gstaad, and appearances with Justus Frantz at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival followed. In autumn 1993 the German Chamber Academy made an extended tour of Switzerland and Austria with Krzysztof Penderecki. In autumn 1994 the ensemble gave three concerts in Sydney.
Numerous CD recordings featuring the Deutsche Kammerakademie exist. A series of the complete symphonies of Luigi Boccherini was begun in 1991 and finished in 1993 – the 250th anniversary of his birth. During Columbus Year, the German Chamber Academy appeared at the opera in Mexico City and in other cities in Latin America with its performance of C. H. Graun's opera “Montezuma”, the text of which was penned by Frederick the Great.
