Michael Kaltenbach

Michael Kaltenbach completed his training as a part-time church musician in the Archdiocese of Freiburg. He then studied music education at the Karlsruhe University of Music, majoring in organ with Jörg Halubek and conducting with Martin Schmidt and Andreas Weiss. He continued his studies in church music at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, including instruction from Dan Zerfass, Daniel Beckmann, Susanne Rohn, and Karsten Storck. His diverse work as a choir conductor and the founder of various choirs and ensembles attest to his excellent reputation as a choral educator. Since January 2015, Michael Kaltenbach has been the Domkantor (Cathedral Cantor) at Mainz Cathedral. He leads the Mädchenchor am Dom und St. Quintin, established the Schola of the Girls’ Choir, and promoted choral singing. Furthermore, he works as a composer, music educator at the Maria-Ward-Schule, and vocal coach at the church music institute.
