André Eckert

André Eckert
Born in Dresden, André Eckert was a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied singing at the Dresden University of Music. After being engaged by the Opera Studio in 1987, the bass became a member of the Semperoper Dresden in 1990. This was followed by permanent engagements at the Meininger Staatstheater, the Staatsoperette Dresden and the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau. Since 2000, he has been a regular guest at the Semperoper, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Staatstheater Meiningen. He is currently engaged as a guest in residence at the Chemnitz Opera. Performances have also taken him to opera houses and festivals in France, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Poland, Israel, Sweden and Denmark. His extensive repertoire includes roles such as Osmin, Bartolo, Kaspar, Eremit, van Bett and Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor. He has a large lied and concert repertoire ranging from baroque to modern music. As a teacher, he has taught singing at the Dresden University of Music since 2012 and has been a vocal coach with the Dresdner Kapellknaben choir at the diocese of Dresden-Meißen since 2013.
