James Edgar Knight

James Edgar Knight is originally from Sydney and studied at the Juilliard School in New York. In 2015, at the age of 25, he madehis professional debut at Carnegie Hall as tenor soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. While still studying, he became a permanentensemble member in Karlsruhe, and was engaged there from 2015 to 2019 performing roles including Cavaradossi, Maurizio inAdriana Lecouvreur, Alfredo Germont, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Macduff, Fenton in Falstaff, Lucio Silla, Tybalt, Jonasin Le prophète, Froh in Das Rheingold and Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady. James Edgar Knight has won awards from theMetropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Opera Index Vocal Competition and was a participant in the 2019 QueenSonja International Music Competition. Since the start of the 2019/20 season, he has been a permanent member of the ChemnitzOpera and has appeared as Tamino, Jaquino, Froh in Das Rheingold and Wagner / Nereo in Mefistofele.
