Matthias Winter

Matthias Winter studied singing at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. His first engagement was at the Theater Gera where he sang many of the great baritone roles such as Jago, Wolfram, Marcello, Luna and Higgins. He also regularly directed works of all genres and was responsible for the concept and presentation of several theatre balls. Since 2001 he has been engaged at the Chemnitz Opera, where, among other roles, he has performed Faninal, Heerrufer, Kothner, Donner, Onegin, Danilo and Father in Hansel and Gretel. He has also staged the operetta Die Csárdásfürstin and the musicals Little Shop of Horrors, FMA – Falco Meets Amadeus, West Side Story, Evita, The Full Monty, Elton John’s Aida, Non(n)sens and Heute Abend: Lola Blau. Since 2001, he has also been a lecturer in Drama at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig.
