Helmut Fuchs was born in 1984 in the town of Oberndorf near Salzburg and took his first trumpet lessons at the age of six. In 2004 he began studying trumpet at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Gottfried Menth, transferring to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna to study under Josef Pomberger in 2005. In addition to his concert training, Fuchs also studied music pedagogy, majoring in trumpet. He graduated both degrees with distinction. Even as a first year student, he was already working with the most prestigious orchestras in Austria, such as the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic. In 2014 Fuchs was engaged at the Opéra de Nice, and since 2016 he has been solo trumpeter with the Staatskapelle Dresden.
