Patrick Sepec
Born in 1969, Patrick Sepec studied cello with Thomas Demenga and Reinhard Latzko in Basel, as well as Baroque cello with Christophe Coin at the Schola cantorum basiliensis, before studying viola da gamba with Imke David in Weimar. He regularly performs with internationally acclaimed ensembles that are passionate about historically informed performance practice. Among these are the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Anima Eterna Brugge, the Ensemble 1704 and the B’rock Orchestra. Sepec has performed under conductors such as René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, Jos van Immerseel and Václav Luks. As continuo cellist under Ivor Bolton, he continues to be involved in productions at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Teatro Real in Madrid. In the same role, he has performed with Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski since 2013 and, since 2017, with Les Musiciens du Prince-Monaco under the direction of Cecilia Bartoli. Sepec is a member of Les Cornets Noires, with whom he won the International Classical Music Award in 2013. He performs on a French cello from Mirecourt, dating from 1840; he uses a bow by John Dodd, made in circa 1800.
