Münchner Motettenchor

In 1960, Hans Rudolf Zöbeley laid the foundations for the Münchner Motettenchor when playing Schütz motets at a university seminar. Today, the repertoire embraces the entire range of choral literature from Monteverdi to Bach, Handel, Brahms and Verdi to Britten and Orff, who has a special significance for the choir. Zöbeley's successor, Hayko Siemens, further developed the programme scope, for example with the premiere of the oratorio Joram by Paul Ben-Haim, and Enjott Schneider's Orbe rotundo. Benedikt Haag has directed the choir since 2013. He too has broken new ground with, for example, the performance of Alfred Schnittke's Concerto for Mixed Chorus and the crossover programme Baroque in Blue.
