Artists

Michael Porter, a native American, received his musical educationat Indiana University. His teachers included ScharmalSchrock and Kathy Kilgo. Michael Porter is a winner of the RegionalEncouragement Award of MONC (Metropolitan OperaNational Council Northwest Region) andthe Barbara and Stanley Richman Award.He gained his first stage experience inthe Young Artist Programmes of theOpera Theatre St. Louis and the SeagleMusic Colony.
In 2013 he made his debut at Fort WorthOpera, and his first guest engagementstook him to the Glimmerglass Festivaland St. Louis. After two seasons at theFrankfurt Opera Studio, Michael Porterhas been a permanent member of theFrankfurt Opera ensemble since 2015.In 2018/2019 he took over the role ofTamino in The Magic Flute and Andresin Wozzeck.
Guest appearances under Daniel Barenboim took him to theBerlin State Opera and to the Munich Opera Festival. In summer2018 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in TheMagic Flute as Monostatos.
