Maximilian Lörzer

Maximilian Lörzer was born in Jena in 1988. He learned flute, clarinet, and piano at an early age and became director of the youth choir of his grammar school at the age of 18. From 2009 to 2015 he studied music education at the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar. Among others, he received lessons in choral conducting from Christoph Hiller and Gunter Berger. At the same time, he sang in various ensembles, such as the Philharmonic Choir Jena under Berit Walther from 2006 and the chamber choir of the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar from 2009 under the direction of Jürgen Puschbeck. Concert tours have taken him to the United States, Brazil, and Israel, to appearances before the German, Austrian and Hungarian governments as well as the EU Parliament in Brussels and the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
While still a student, Maximilian Lörzer founded the Psycho-Chor Jena in 2011 and has been actively involved in its musical direction ever since. He currently teaches for the Chorverband Thüringen (Thuringian Choir Association) and is a guest author of articles for ››Chorzeit‹‹, the national trade magazine for choirs and choirmasters. Maximilian Lörzer became the youth choir director of the choir association of Thuringia in 2017 and their vice president in 2019.
