Rainer Johannes Homburg
Rainer Johannes Homburg studied church music, conducting, organ, philosophy, and musicology in Cologne and Detmold. For 18 years he was cantor in Lippe and director of church music at St Marien in Lemgo. He also founded the Chamber Choir of the Marien-Kantorei Lemgo, today the Handel’s Company Choir and the Handel’s Company Early Music Orchestra. In 2008 he and his ensembles were awarded the ECHO-Klassik for their recording of works by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer.
Since 2010 he has been artistic director of the Stuttgart Hymnus Choir Boys, which he has conducted in approximately 400 performances in Germany and abroad. Numerous CD recordings, for example for the MDG label, as well as regular radio and television appearances, document the new artistic orientation of the boys choir. Rainer Johannes Homburg is also active as an university lecturer.
