Egbert Junghanns

Lars Conrad
Baritone Egbert Junghanns received his earliest musical inspiration as a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor: he performed as a soloist within the ensemble from a young age, before going on to study singing at the Musikhochschule Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. Having begun his career at the Opernhaus Chemnitz, he later joined the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden. Guest appearances have also seen him perform at the Oper Leipzig and the Staatsoper Berlin. Junghanns has won several prizes at international competitions in Carlsbad, Vienna, and elsewhere. He was awarded the Schumann prize and came first at the seventh Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Wettbewerb in Leipzig.
His broad, diverse repertoire has garnered him invitations to many of Europe’s cultural hotspots such as Madrid, Rome, Venice, Milan, Berlin, Vienna, and Paris, as well as Japan, Israel, and the USA. He has appeared alongside renowned conductors including Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Kurt Masur, John Nelson, Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Georg Christoph Biller, Roderich Kreile, Hans-Christoph Rademann, and Peter Schreier, as well as with leading ensembles such as the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the DSO Berlin, Camerata Academica Salzburg, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Israel Philharmonic and Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, St Luke’s Orchestra New York, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. He shares a long-standing artistic partnership with Ludwig Güttler and his ensembles, and teaches singing at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden.
