Roman Trekel

Roman Trekel
After his vocal training with Professor Heinz Reeh, the baritone Roman Trekel began his professional career at the Berlin State Opera. He remains firmly attached to this opera house and its chief conductor Daniel Barenboim to this day and started his career from here, which led him to the great opera stages, such as the Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the State Operas of Munich, Dresden and Hamburg and the Bayreuth Festival for eleven years in a row. At the Bayreuth Festival, he was able to celebrate his triumph as Wolfram von Eschenbach in Tannhäuser.

In addition to his work on the opera stage, he is a soughtafter concert singer and has made appearances with numerous leading orchestras and conductors, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra or Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.

For more than ten years, Roman Trekel has been regarded as one of the outstanding interpreters of lieder of his generation, which is proven not only by his internationally acclaimed recitals, but also by his award-winning discography. For more than two decades Roman Trekel has been teaching singing at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. He gives master classes and is regularly invited to participate in international competitions as a juror.
