Jugendsinfonieorchester Leipzig

As the flagship of one of Germany’s largest music schools, the Jugendsinfonieorchester (Youth Symphony Orchestra) of the Musikschule Leipzig “Johann Sebastian Bach” can look back on a history spanning more than thirty years. Founded in 1985 by Iwan Iwanow, the orchestra quickly grew into an outstanding ensemble. It gives concerts regularly at venues such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus, St Thomas’s Church and the Kongresshalle. As a leading German youth orchestra, it has received numerous awards and, in its role as an ambassador of the music metropolis of Leipzig, travels all over the world. Concert tours have led the almost 90 young musicians aged from 14 to 20 throughout Europe as well as to Israel, Ethiopia, Canada and the USA. The Jugendsinfonieorchester Leipzigis a multiple prizewinner of the Deutscher Orchesterwettbewerb.
