Matthias Neumann
Matthias Neumann, born in 1984, isprofessor for organ at the Hochschule fürevangelische Kirchenmusikin Bayreuthand the Hochschule für Musik undTheaterin Hamburg.Alongside his activities in Bayreuth, hewas organist at the St. Mary’s Churchin Hamburg Ohlsdorf-Fuhlsbüttel from2009 to 2016, a position that he held untilhe was appointed at the Hochschule fürMusik und Theaterin Hamburg.
Neumann received his first organ lessonswith the cantor Wolfgang Westphalin Rinteln and studied church music,conducting and organ (concert examination)in Hamburg, Berlin and Vienna.His organ teachers were Wolfgang Zerer,Roman Summereder, Leo van Doeselaarand Paolo Crivellaro and he studied conductingwith Christof Prick.
Active as a concert musician both athome and abroad, he was recipient of theBach Prize of the City of Leipzig in 2012.In the winter semester of the same year hewas appointed as a professor at Bayreuth.
