James Bush

James Bush, born in Christchurch/New Zealand, studied violoncello at the Royal Academy of Music London, and at Stony Brook University New York/USA, and then went on to study Baroque cello at the Universität der Künste Berlin. As a soloist, he has performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. In 1990, he won the National Concerto Competition, and came first in the New Zealand Young Musicians Competition in 1993. Bush performs with ensembles such as Al Ayre Espanol, the Akademie für Alte Musik, the Quartet Albada, and in Sasha Waltz’s works “Gezeiten” and “Dido and Aeneas”.
