Capriccio Barockorchester

Founded by Dominik Kiefer in 1999, the Capriccio Barockorchester soon featured among the most renowned Baroque orchestras in Switzerland. In its concerts, Capriccio draws from a rich repertoire of works for chamber music and symphonic settings. In addition to the performance of masterpieces by the great Italian, German, and French composers, the orchestra dedicates itself particularly passionately to new discoveries or rarely performed works – a passion evident from the ensemble’s comprehensive and internationally acclaimed discography. The enthusiasm displayed by Capriccio’s youthful, professional musicians quickly transfers to their audiences. Capriccio hosts its own concert series in the Aargau region, in Rheinfelden, as well as in Basel and Zurich; the ensemble invites exceptional figures of the historically informed performance practice movement as directors and soloists to these series. Alongside established stars such as Andreas Scholl, Andrew Parrott, Kristian Bezuidenhout, María Cristina Kiehr, Klaus Mertens, Maurice Steger, Rachel Podger, and Christophe Coin, Capriccio features stunning young talents, develops unusual programmes, and experiments with new concert formats.
