Ensemble bach, blech & blues

Ensemble bach, blech & blues
“bach, blech & blues, kammermusik für blechbläser” is the name of this 12-person brass group that was founded in 1990 from the ranks of the German Youth philharmonic. The ensemble's primary programming consists of crossover music-making and the biending of musical styles: the mixing of renaissance and modern, baroque and jazz, for example, as well as the meeting between various artists with talent in the classical world as well as in the entertainment industry.

To this end, the ensemble seeks constantly to cross boundaries, engaging international masters from various fields to advise and prepare them for each of their projects: in the case of the CD it is the Dutch trombonist Harry Ries. With the goal of giving new life to brass music and music-making, bach blech & blues has already commissioned and premiered the works of at least a dozen young and gifted composers and arrangers from the contemporary music and jazz scene.

The Dutch musician Harry Ries is solo trombonist with the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra and teaches at the Musikhochschule in Aachen and Maastricht. For many years he has been recognized as one of the foremost baroque trombonists and an authority on early music. He is a member of the "Concerto Polatino" in Bologna, “La Petite Bande” in Antwerp and the “Orchestre Champs-Elysées” in Paris.
