Markus Teutschbein
Born in Schkeuditz in 1971, Markus Teutschbein is an experienced conductor and choir director. He studied cello and chamber music with the Melos-Quartett (Stuttgart) as well as choir direction and orchestral conducting with Gert Frischmuth and others in Weimar. He founded the Westerburger Musiksommer, directed the Singakademien in Gera and Suhl, as well as the Suhler Knabenchor. In addition, he has taught choir direction at the Südthüringisches Chorleitungsseminar, and held the post of choir master at the Staatstheater Meiningen. He regularly works with the following ensembles: the Thüringenphilharmonie Gotha-Suhl, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Beethoven-Orchester Bonn, the Orchester des Staatstheaters Meiningen, the Collegium Musicum Basel, the Freitagsakademie Bern, the Weimarer Barockensemble, Capriccio Basel, the Chor des Norddeutschen Rundfunk, and others. He was invited to observe/assist and attend master classes with Siegfried Pank, Anner Bylsma, Julius Berger, Georg Alexander Albrecht, Andrey Boreyko, Michael Dittrich, Roman Kofman, Salvador Mas Conde, Robin Gritton, Hermann Max, Volker Hempfling, Frieder Bernius, Karl-Friedrich Beringer, Daniel Barenboim, and Roger Norrington. He has directed the Knabenkantorei Basel since 2010, and took on the direction of the Orchester Arlesheim in 2010.
