Vox Werdensis

The chorale schola Vox Werdensis was founded at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen. Its setting is flexible and is adjusted to each concert programme individually. In the present recording, the ensemble sings the monophonic antiphons. Under the direction of Stefan Klöckner, the ensemble performs vocal works in a historically informed manner. Stefan Klöckner is professor of musicology/ Gregorian Chant and history of church music at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen, where he is the director of the university’s Institute of Gregorian Chant. Since 1999 he has additionally held the position of deacon at the cathedral at Essen; he is also the current director of church music for the Evangelische Landeskirche Baden-Württemberg.
