Vinzenz Weissenburger
The young conductor Vinzenz Weissenburger received a comprehensive musical education, beginning at the age of six with piano lessons, followed later by organ lessons and the training as a chorister. He completed his studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with a diploma in sound engineering in 2006. He has been rewarded numerous prizes in this capacity at international competitions. In addition, Weissenburger studied composition between 2005 and 2011 with Hans-Christoph Rademann, Ekkehard Klemm, Steffen Leißner and Christian Kluttig at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber at Dresden. Weissenburger has been part of CD recordings and radio broadcasts both as an instrumentalist and a conductor, as in the most recent of these recordings with the MDR- Sinfonieorchester. During his conducting studies, he was choir master at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and directed the Berliner Domkantorei in 2010. Until 2009, Weissenburger held a teaching post for the Staats- und Domchor Berlin (Universität der Künste), and is presently the musical director of the Kammerchor Friedrichstadt Berlin. Since 2007, Vinzenz Weissenburger has also been the director of the children’s choir at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, which received a prize at the Landes-Chorwettbewerb in 2009. Weissenburger conducted the children’s opera “Der gestiefelte Kater” by Cesar Cui and Ali N. Askin’s “Eisenhans!” at the Staatsoper in the 2010/11 season.
