Kammerchor Apollini et Musis

Members of the Berliner Staatsopernchor founded the Kammerchor Apollini et Musis in spring 2006. The inscrip- tion on the gable of the portico at the Berlin opera house Unter den Linden gave the inspiration for the ensemble’s name: King Friedrich II., a music enthusiast, dedicated the opera house to “Apollo and the Muses”. In addition to their duties in the opera chorus, the seven- teen female and male singers in this small formation perform music from a vast stylistic range in highest musi- cal precision. Over the past years, through their regular concerts Apollini et Musis have established themselves as a fixed institution within the chamber music scene at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Schillertheater. The chamber choir regularly performs under the baton of such renowned conductors as Dan Ettinger, Julien Salemkour, Michael Wendeberg, and Vinzenz Weissenburger and has sung together with soloists of the Staatsoper and mem- bers of the Staatskapelle Berlin. The concept of the present CD Saudade was inspired by an eponymous concert of Latin American music in June 2009, and the record was produced with the support of the Brazilian embassy in Berlin.
