Elisabeth Schwanda

Elisabeth Schwanda is one of the most renowned artists and teaching authorities in the field of Early Music in Germany. Having completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with distinction, today she is widely known as a versatile record player.Through her work with other European artists such as Walter van Hauwe, Matthias Weilenmann, Hille Perl, and Ralf Popken, she received crucial artistic impulses.Elisabeth Schwanda founded the ensemble Affetti Musicali, with whom she has produced several concert series and CD recordings.As a soloist, she was invited to play with ensembles such as the Himlische Cantorey Hamburg, the Hannoversche Hofkapelle, L’Arco, The King’s Delight, and others.A number of new works by contemporary composers have been dedicated especially to her. Engagements at the most prominent festivals in Germany as well as concert-tours to Italy, England, and Iceland underline her importance as an international soloist.She lectures at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Herford, and gives courses in Early Music with a focus on the music of the Renaissance.
