Till Fabian Weser

Till Fabian Weser was born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1965. He studied conducting with Carl St. Clair, Sir Roger Norrington and Prof. Wolfgang Schäfer, and was among those to attend Donald Thulean’s Conducting Workshop in San Francisco. He also worked as assistant conductor to Zoltán Peskó and Ingo Metzmacher.Till Weser’s main interest is in jazz and in the overlap of old and New Music. Although still young, he can already look back on several successful concerts, including appearances at the International Music Festival in Lucerne, at the Rheingau Music Festival and at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf. Having accepted an invitation from the Jena Philharmonic in March 2002 to stand in at short notice for John Axelrod, his interpretations of works by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Ralph Towner were enthusiastically received by both audience and press alike. Till Weser makes regular appearances with the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss and has repeatedly led this ensemble into new artistic terrain ever since he began conducting it in 2003. Among the many other formations he has conducted are the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra’s Big Band, the Transit Orchestra and bach, blech & blues.He has worked with numerous world-class musicians such as Sabine Meyer, Wayne Marshall, Kenny Wheeler and Markus Stockhausen and several composers of New Music and jazz have written works especially for him. He has recorded CDs and DVDs for Berlin Classics and Denon and has been a member of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra since 1994.
