Münchner Bachsolisten

Münchner Bachsolisten
Founded in 1962 by Otto Büchner, the renowned violinist and Professor at the Munich Academy of Music, this high-calibre chamber orchestra came into being at a time when Büchner was giving numerous concerts together with Karl Richter both in Germany and abroad. After several years on the concert circuit, the ensemble decided to suspend its performing activities for a while and began recruiting again in 1982, this time under the name of the Munich Bach Soloists. Richter’s enduring influence on the musicians in the orchestra, most of whom are also members of the Munich Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, is nevertheless clearly audible, even today. The orchestra’s artistic director is Hans Schuster, while the leader and solo violinist is Professor Kurt Guntner, who is also leader of the Munich Philharmonic and was for several years one of Richter’s duet partners. The Munich Bach Soloists have performed at numerous well known music festivals, including the Ebracher Music Summer and Würzburg Bach Festival. They have played at the International Bach Academy under the baton of Helmut Rilling and for several years have performed regularly with the Windsbacher Knabenchor, conducted by Karl-Friedrich Beringer. Concert tours of Spain, Italy, Israel and Austria have long since earned the ensemble international acclaim.
