Mädchenchor Hannover

The Hanover Girls’ Choir was founded in 1952 and is one of the best known youth choirs in Germany. The ensemble has won international acclaim by winning prizes at numerous international competitions and has made concert appearances in Europe, Japan, South America, the USA, Canada and Israel.
The choir has produced a number of CD recordings and makes frequent broadcast appearances. Members of the choir receive musical education in the choir’s own academy, where an experienced, focussed staff of teachers takes care of the ongoing development of both the choir and the individual voices of which it is composed. Many of the girls have taken part in the local, regional and national levels of the competition “Jugend musiziert” and a number of them have won prizes. The training offered in this ensemble has often served as a perfect starting point for a career in singing, and some former members have become established members of German opera companies.
The Hanover Girls’ Choir focuses on contemporary choral works. It has contributed to the development of the repertoire for youth and women’s choirs by commissioning a number of new works.
