Both were born in Budapest and together they have shaped 20th century European sacred music for 70 years. Zolt\u00e1n G\u00e1rdonyi, who was fortunate enough to enjoy musical training under Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly, Paul Hindemith and Arnold Schering, bequeathed his talent to his son Zsolt. He has now selected works from both generations, in order to portray the opus of both father and son. In the Erl\u00f6serkirche Bad Homburg, a breathtaking backdrop with equally impressive acoustics, the Kammerchor Bad Homburg (Susanne Rohn) and organist Rudolf M\u00fcller came together to unite TWO GENERATIONS onto one sound carrier. Well-known melodies from the Evangelical hymnal in new raiment combine here with the monumental, quasi-ominous sound of the powerful Erl\u00f6serkirche Sauer organ. Juxtaposition of the two G\u00e1rdonyis allows the fine distinctions of two otherwise remarkably similar compositional styles to come through.
