Hof\u2019s city cantors, Georg Stanek and Ludger St\u00fchlmeyer, present the city\u2019s two remaining important historic organs on this CD. Georg Stanek performs works by Vincent L\u00fcbeck, Henry Purcell, Johann Sebastian Bach, Anton\u00edn Dvo?ak, and Jacques Louis Battmann at the Heidenreich-Organ at St Michael\u2019s. Compositions by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Ludger St\u00fchlmeyer were recorded at St Mary\u2019s Steinmeyer-Organ. The recorded pieces take into account the sound facets best suited to the historic organs, and at the same time bring together the Baroque and Romantic eras with contemporary music. The city of Hof can look back upon an exceptionally long and diverse musical history. Its musico-cultural roots reach back to the Middle Ages.
