The M\u00e4dchenchor Hannover and the Knabenchor Hannover set standards for today\u2019s choral repertoire. Their recordings of commissioned works and re-discovered pieces alike have brought the ensembles much acclaim and renown. For the current recording under the auspices of Rondeau Production and the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the choirs perform some rarietes from the Herzog August Bibliothek at Wolfenb\u00fcttel. The CD takes its listeners back to the time between 1566 and 1701: to the courtly society of Wolfenb\u00fcttel, to the cultural circles of the protestant cities of Freiberg, Helmstedt, Leipzig, L\u00fcneburg, Minden, Nuremberg, Tonna (Thuringia), and to Italy. Providing insight into the musical world of the days in which the Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenb\u00fcttel was founded, these pieces reflect the representational and funerary practices of this time.
