The debut CD recorded by the Daarler Vocal Consort centres around the three keywords love, light, and dark. The recorded works are written in different languages and styles, date from different periods, and were composed for a diverse spectrum of occasions, ranging from the classical love song and hymns to light, to Tzvi Avni\u2019s elegy that reflects on the murder of the Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. Georg Gr\u00fcn dedicated his 2009 composition \u201cMarantha\u201d – a cycle for eight voices – as well as his \u201cLiebeslied\u201d to the Daarler Vocal Consort. Both works can be heard on this disc, which received the Excellentia Award given out by the classical music magazine Pizzicato. The magazine attests to the ensemble a pure intonation, a sound blending of voices, and a thoroughly honest musical expression.
