Heinrich Sch\u00fctz composed his only book of madrigals, his only collection of secular choral music at a young age: the Italian madrigals. He wrote these pieces during his stay in Venice, and they are strongly influenced by this teacher at the time, Giovanni Gabrieli. The CD features an exciting performance of these rarely recorded works. The Kammerchor of the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Weimar under the direction of J\u00fcrgen Puschbeck impresses with its young, perfectly-blended voices.
