Münchner Frauenchor: |Holy Night
Monika Baumgartner Reads Ludwig Thoma
Künstler: Münchner Frauenchor, Katrin Wende-Ehmer
Komponisten: Franz Schubert

A very special Christmas-CD can be found in the catalogue of Rondeau Production, in the guise of this recording with the Münchner Frauenchor. In his Heilige Nacht, Ludwig Thoma (1867-1921) writes about the Nativity of Christ that ‘it is a story for the poor, not a single rich person was in it.’ The composer Peter Wittrich has set parts of this text to music for the Münchner Frauenchor. His music for women’s choir and harp at all times maintains a strong connection with Bavarian folk music: an adequate addition to Ludwig Thoma’s text which is read here in Bavarian dialect by the much-loved stage and TV actress Monika Baumgartner.
