Matthias Neumann |Die Bente-Orgel im Kloster Walkenried
Organ Works Reflecting Monastic Life
Künstler: Matthias Neumann
Komponisten: Franz Tunder

Recorded in the monastery of Walkenried, Matthias Neumann takes the listener of this CD on a journey into the monastic life of the Cistercians. Until today the prayer times at the monastery follow a set procedure and shape the daily routine, the major hours being Lauds at dawn, Vespers at the lighting of the evening lamps and Compline before retiring for the night. The present recording is based on this procedure. Thus, for each prayer, Matthias Neumann has chosen one or more works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Robert Schumann, among others. The result is a diverse programme with works from various epochs, played on the organ newly built in 2017 by Jörg Bente in the chapter house of the monastery.
