Johann Sebastian Bach|The Art of Fugue

Bach likely completed the first version of his Art of Fugue around 1742. In the following years he reworked several of the pieces for the first printing and composed four additional movements. This recording by Ullrich Böhme brings together the individual compositions from the autograph and first printing: The first CD contains all 15 movements of Bach’s autograph fair copy, while the second CD documents the newly composed pieces as well as the components of the autograph that Bach considerably reworked. The recordings were made in the Basilica Ottobeuren and St Thomas, Leipzig.
