Elisabeth Schwanda: |Flauto dolce solo

Elisabeth Schwanda: |Flauto dolce solo
1000 years of musical history played on recorder
Künstler: Junger Kammerchor Rhein-Neckar, Mathias Rickert
Komponisten: James MacMillan

One musician – ten recorders – twelve composers – 21 works – 1000 years of music: no journey is too far for the recorder player Elisabeth Schwanda in her attempt to explore the possibilities of her instruments. On her journey through the centuries, she encounters diverse styles and brings together sounds from monkish melodies to minimal music, from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Romantic Era, and contemporary repertoires on her solo album “Flaute dolce solo – a Musical Journey through Time”. Jugglers and fire artists, nightingales, raindrops, and hummingbirds are to be found along the way, as she performs famous works by Jacob van Eyck, Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and – of course – by Johann Joachim Quantz. Other, less familiar names such as Anton Heberle, Narcisse Bousquet, and Christiane Martini also make an appearance and transform this journey through time into a fascinating expedition into unknown, but no less stunning territories.
