From Bach to Ellington: |Windsbach Boys Choir
Bach in fusion with Jazz
Künstler: Windsbacher Knabenchor, Duo Klangdimension, Karl-Friedrich Beringer
Komponisten: Franz Kanefzky

From Bach to Ellington – the Windsbacher Knabenchor (Windsbach Boys Choir) ventures into completely new terrain. For the first time, the protestant church choir is accompanied by a jazz band – by the famous Thilo Wolf Quintett, no less. The idea behind the encounter was to initiate a dialogue between two musical worlds: the sacred tradition cultivated by the Windsbacher Knabenchor on the one hand, and on the other, the much younger jazz tradition – which because it has its roots in spirituals, can also be regarded as an offshoot of the sacred tradition. The suite called Begegnungen” – or Encounters – by Thomas Zoller is dedicated to the two ensembles. The CD also features arrangements of works by Duke Ellington, Carl Orff, George Gershwin and various other composers.
