“Gottfried Müller is one of the greatest talents I have ever encountered and is undoubtedly destined to have a formative influence on the music of the coming years,” said the world famous conductor, Fritz Busch of Dresden, in the early 1930s. Born in Dresden in 1914, the composer Gottfried Müller ventured west after the war, taking up a post as Professor of Music Theory at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg, where he died in 1993. In the year 2004, Müller celebrated his 90th birthday and to mark this occasion, Rondeau Production has brought out a CD featuring a selection of his works as part of its Windsbacher Knabenchor Archiv series. Listeners interested in finding out more about this exceptional composer will find these renditions by two of Müller’s pupils, the conductor Karl-Friedrich Beringer and organist Michael Lochner to be the perfect introduction.
