One can never have too much Bach, neither of Johann Sebastian, nor of his second-eldest son Carl Philipp Emanuel. Since both are connected closely with the musical past of Frankfurt an der Oder, Potsdam, and the state of Brandenburg, it is a matter of course for the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester not only to perform their music in concerts, but also to make it accessible to wider audiences on CD. On the present disc, produced under the auspices of the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg and klanglogo, Generalmusikdirektor Howard Griffiths conducts Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s seldom recorded early Cembalo Concerto no. 3 in G major. The three-movement work is complemented by the two most famous of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos: nos 5 and 2.
