Heinrich Schütz: |The Italian Madrigals
Kammerchor Weimar
Künstler: Barockorchester L’Arco, Knabenchor Hannover, Jörg Breiding
Komponisten: Johann Sebastian Bach

Heinrich Schütz composed his only book of madrigals, his only collection of secular choral music at a young age: the Italian madrigals. He wrote these pieces during his stay in Venice, and they are strongly influenced by this teacher at the time, Giovanni Gabrieli. The CD features an exciting performance of these rarely recorded works. The Kammerchor of the Hochschule für Musik Weimar under the direction of Jürgen Puschbeck impresses with its young, perfectly-blended voices. The recording’s clear and transparent sound is fascinating: a choral performance as a well-justified alternative to the previously available recordings which generally present the madrigals in smaller or soloist settings.
