Matthias Neumann |Blütezeit im Alten Land
North German Baroque on the Schnitger Organ in Steinkirchen
Künstler: Oliver Ostermann, Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz
Komponisten: Oliver Ostermann

Revered by organists such as Dieterich Buxtehude and Vincent Lübeck, Arp Schnitger was undisputedly the foremost organ builder in northern Germany at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. On this recording, Matthias Neumann focuses on works of the North German Baroque, including pieces by composers such as Nicolaus Bruhns, Georg Muffat, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Dieterich Buxtehude. These works are performed on the Schnitger organ in Steinkirchen, which was built between 1685 and 1687 and has remained largely unaltered to this day. Thus, the listener can enjoy the original sound of this wonderful organ through works from the same period.
