Following their internationally acclaimed Italian Journey (KL1400), featuring Italian rarieties, the Quartetto di Cremona returns presenting modern miniatures. Lorenzo Ferrero’s string quartet cycle Tempi di Quartetto is an extraordinarily important contribution to the contemporary repertoire: a challenge to any ensemble, a delight for the audience. Born in Turin in 1951, Lorenzo Ferrero counts among the most influential Italian composers of our time: by merging traditional forms with the drive of pop music, he found his very own language beyond any clichä – and an enthusiastic audience with his many operas (e. g. Marilyn, La conquista, Risorgimento). Lorenzo Ferrero was vice-president of the copyright society SIAE, is co-founder of the European Composer Songwriter Alliance ECSA, and has been president of the International Council of Music Authors since 2011. Quartetto di Cremona (www.quartettodicremona.com) is about to become the legitimate successor of the legendary Quartetto Italiano. Following a concert at the Wigmore Hall, the British magazine The Strad, wrote “Dynamic contouring was as sleek and elegant as an Armani suit, and it tailored the music to perfection.” In Australia, the Quartetto di Cremona was acclaimed as the “glory of the Perth Festival”, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung described them as “one of the most exciting quartets of the current generation”.
