Das kleine bisschen Glück – The Real Comedian Harmonists
With Das kleine bisschen Glück, The Real Comedian Harmonists turn to the timeless repertoire of the legendary Comedian Harmonists while at the same time building a bridge to the present day. At the heart of the project lies the unmistakable close-harmony sound that emerged in Berlin in the late 1920s and, with elegance, wit, and musical precision, opened a new chapter in popular entertainment music.
The ensemble grew out of the widely acclaimed Stuttgart theatre production Comedian Harmonists, which deliberately featured exclusively professionally trained singers. From this collaboration evolved a sextet that does not imitate the original sound, but rather re-explores it on the basis of historical sources. As authentic sheet music has largely not survived, the arrangements were carefully reconstructed from original shellac recordings and sensitively supplemented.
Following its worldwide digital release in the summer of 2024, the album is now also available in physical form, with the vinyl LP offering a particularly fitting medium. The analogue edition brings together warmth of sound, tactile quality, and design in a format that does justice both to the historical repertoire and to the artistic ambition of this exceptional recording. Das kleine bisschen Glück is thus more than a homage: it is a vivid rediscovery of a repertoire whose expressive power remains undiminished to this day.
