In 1621, Adolph Compenius most likely built an organ in the German town of Rinteln. Today, five stops and the marvellous prospect of 1621 are still preserved. The warm, distinctive intonation of each stop allows for a wide range of styles, making it possible to play music from the early Baroque to works from the Romantic era. On this recording Prof. Matthias Neumann plays works ranging from composers such as Georg Muffat, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Dieterich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach to Robert Schumann.
