On this recording, the Ensemble vocal and Kammerchor der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg (chamber choir) perform selected works by composer Michael Ostrzyga, who has a very close and friendly relationship with both choirs and the conductor Cornelius Trantow. The album comprises manyfold compositions that shed light onto Ostrzyga’s diverse approaches to composing, from complex inspirations in nature (e.g. astronomy and fauna) and culture (e. g. native American languages) to a diverse range of compositional devices such as vocal noise, excessive repetition, conceptual art, among more traditional devices. Meanwhile, the renditions of Ostrzyga’s works on this album still keep the listener’s ear more than satisfied. In 2025, Ostrzyga's choral output was honored with the Chorpreis der GEMA-Stiftung (GEMA Foundation's Choir Prize), which is awarded every four years for outstanding achievements.
