Rufus Beck

Rufus Beck
Rufus Beck refers to himself as “decathlete” of the performing arts – and indeed, he has become well-known for his many roles in theater productions, films and television. He has performed on Germany’s most celebrated stages and has been seen in over 90 different television and film productions. His breakthrough came in 1994 in the film Der bewegte Mann. He was nominated for the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Prize) for his role as the crooked “Kelp” in Jimmy the Kid, while in his role as “Willi” the trainer, he played the leader of Die wilden Kerle. He has also appeared in the films Germanikus, König Laurin, and Saphirblau. Rufus Beck is a well-known interpreter of audio books as well, most especially as the award-winning voice of Harry Potter. In2004, he directed Night of the Sultans – Pandora’s Legend, and in 2003 and 2012 he directed and served as a co-author for Tabaluga, with which he toured with singer Peter Maffay. As an author, Beck has written the non-fiction book Children Love Fairy Tales – and Discover Values (Kinder lieben Märchen und entdecken Werte), and has published an anthology entitled Stories for Us Kids (Geschichten für uns Kinder). In recent years, he has increasingly dedicated himself to live theater, and has performed at such venues as the Berlin Renaissance Theater, the Alte Schauspielhaus in Stuttgart, the Hamburg Kammerspiele und at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms.
